Strackk is more than a unique wall shelf - it's a story of Dutch design, innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship.
Owners Joep and Annemiek, partners in work and life, combine backgrounds in engineering, sales, and marketing with an unstoppable drive as entrepreneurs. What started as a practical solution in their own interior has grown into a full-fledged brand that now enriches more than 15,000 interiors in the Netherlands and abroad.
In September 2024, we opened our Design Office at Czaar Peterstraat 247 in Amsterdam. On display are various wall shelves in different colours and configurations, with and without lighting. We also have a small selection of the 127 available colour samples on display.

Joep Melis, the inventor
Joep, a passionate entrepreneur with a creative mind, was looking for a slim floating shelf with high load capacity for their new home in Amsterdam. It turned out that such a shelf did not exist. With his eye for design, entrepreneurial spirit, and perseverance, he decided to develop such a shelf himself.
The Strackk shelf is the result of his drive to create an ideal solution where aesthetics and functionality merge. The innovative support system combined with the material and minimalist design results in a slim floating shelf with a unique load capacity of up to 250 kilograms per meter. The award of the WBSO subsidy - a subsidy to stimulate technical innovations - highlighted the technical ingenuity and unique design of his wall shelf, which encouraged him to bring the shelf to the market and further develop it.
Supported by his consultancy experience in optimizing business processes, Joep managed to establish a well-oiled supply chain for Strackk. Within 6 weeks, we, with our reliable suppliers in the Netherlands, manufacture our sleek wall shelves tailored to each consumer from solid recycled aluminum!
Annemiek Melis, the marketeer
How did Strackk actually get started? And how does an idea grow into a brand? In this interview with Amayzine for the Woman Behind the Brand column, Annemiek reflects on the beginning, the choices along the way and her role in it all.
In 2014, we introduced Strackk at the 'Salone del Mobile', Europe's largest interior & design fair in Milan. The reactions from architects, stylists, and consumers were incredibly enthusiastic when they saw the sleek wall shelves with the floating and simultaneously ultra-strong hanging system. In addition to her full-time marketing job, Annemiek worked in the background to ensure that the products and website would appear in Google search results.
In 2020, Strackk underwent a professionalization process with the introduction of tunable lighting and the possibility for customers to custom configure their own unique wall shelf online.
The growing demand from both domestic and international markets fuels the enthusiasm of Annemiek to further elevate the brand.
In 2024, Annemiek joined as co-owner and applies her marketing knowledge and expertise with full focus to ensure that more and more interior and design enthusiasts discover Strackk's unique wall shelves.
Made to order
Every Strackk wall shelf is made to order. Each wall shelf is unique according to the customer's wishes, which is why we cannot supply from a pre-made stock. Within 6 weeks, we make our sleek custom wall shelves from solid recycled aluminium with our regular suppliers in the Netherlands. Long poles of 75% recycled aluminium are deformed into long unprocessed profiles by means of extrusion. These go into an innovative computer-controlled milling machine that processes the shelf as the customer has ordered with the length to the exact cm, screw holes and with or without milling for lighting or options such as slots for wine glasses.
Manual quality control
When the shelf comes out of the milling machine, it is carefully checked according to our high quality standards. Once the manual quality control has been carried out, your shelf goes to our powder coater who sprays your shelf scratch-free in the desired color and finish. After assembly and testing of any lighting, we pack the shelf in a specially designed box so that the transporter can deliver an undamaged shelf to you.
Sustainable craftsmanship, made in the Netherlands
Each Strackk shelf is locally produced with a focus on people and the environment. From the high-quality - 75% recycled - aluminum to the sustainable powder coating, everything exudes quality. Furthermore, each design is custom-made and timeless, intended to last for generations.
Although aluminum is a precious raw material, it is highly sustainable in use. The shelves are made of extremely strong, 75% recycled aluminum and will last for generations without compromising on quality. The shelves with lighting use energy-efficient LED light, which consumes approximately 60% less power than conventional lighting.
We prefer to sell directly from our webshop so that the shelf is delivered directly from the maker to you in protective packaging. By involving as few intermediaries as possible in the business process - such as stores and distributors - our process is as sustainable and cost-efficient as possible.
