About Strackk
Joep Melis, designer Strackk
Joep Melis developed a technically innovative carrying system that, in combination with the used material and minimalist design, leads to an unprecedented thin floating shelf with an enormous load capacity of up to 250 kilograms per meter. Due to technical cleverness, a ledge with a metal strip, the Strackk shelf became magnetic. Magnetic hooks can be clicked under the shelf and, for example, pans or clothes up to 2.5 kilograms can be hung. The ledge works as an anti-slip, so that a TV or painting can be perfectly placed on the Strackk shelf. Consumer articles as well as art and other curiosities are displayed in an unconventional beautiful way, carried by Strackk.
Joep comes from a family business in the metal sector where craftsmanship and quality are central. This background shaped Melis into a passionate entrepreneur with a creative mind. The Strackk shelf originated from a need. Joep was looking for a thin floating shelf with considerable load-bearing capacity for his new home and discovered that it did not yet exist. The Strackk shelf is the result of his drive for an ideal solution in which aesthetics and functionality merge.
In addition to marketing Strackk products, Joep also provides interior and renovation advice. You can read more information about this here.
Successful launch on "Salone del Mobile" in Milan
At world biggest design conference, Salone del Mobile in Milan, Joep Melis launched his Strackk shelf. The enormous amount of positive reactions from project developers, interior architects, professors of technology and design and consumers stimulated his enthusiasm to bring the wall shelf to the market. The award of the WBSO subsidy - a subsidy to stimulate technical innovations - underscores the technical ingenuity and unique design of this wall unit.
The production process
Strackk wall shelves can support up to 250 kilograms per meter. This enormous load capacity has been extensively tested. In the carousel below you can see photos of a first prototype carrying 312kg of steel rolls without the shelf coming off the wall.
The raw aluminum wall shelves are produced in the factory of Matrix in Zwijndrecht, a specialist in metalworking. The aluminum used is 75% recycled. Subsequently the raw shelves go to Coating Systems in Breda where they are powder coated in the color you ordered. You can read more about sustainable powder coating on the Coating Systems site.
Then the shelves are carefully packaged in specially designed Strackk boxes so that the transporter can easily carry them and can deliver you some beautiful undamaged shelves!
